work

working and college at the same time sucks. plus as i referred to in an earlier blog with all the bloody weddings ive been to this year i never have a weekend to myself.
now everything is building up at home, at work, and at college, im finding my stress levels increasing and my productivity levels decreasing. it all leads to a very frustrated, soon to be thirty one year old, second year student, part time employee and full time exhausted son of a .....

interviews

had my first interview for my work placement gig after xmas this morning. did well enough with the two guys, they were nice and helpful and said i had good people skills but needed to work a bit on my technical skills. but that kinda stuff will only come as soon as i get into the work environment and i'm doing stuff everyday. hope i get something soon cos there's not too many positions available. i'll let all my avid blog fans know as soon as i do...

projectblog

so we're having a meeting about our group project on a student guide to cork. our group is my good self, shane, giuseppe, wallace, stephen and dave daly who's sunning himself in the canaries the lucky shite. i know all the lads from last year so it should be a good group to work in. we're gonna translate it into french and italian which would be some of our strengths and will cut down on the size of the content.
on another note, hopin ireland can get a win for us tonight in the footy. come on the boys in green.we owe those cyprus feckers one from the last time...

dodgy swedish websites

i was wondering about which website to write about when i cast my mind back to when i was moving into our house a couple of years ago. we were looking for furniture for it and while we had found a few nice things in furniture stores in munster we were really a couple of items short. so we thought we'd have a look online and see about ordering a couple of things. after googling furniture stores we came across the swedish giants IKEA. for such a huge global brand their website sucked. huge big flash intro when we got to the homepage and as we had a dial up connection it took the best part of five minutes to actually access anything. there was horizontal scrolling which i find pointless, and way too many flashing advertisements about products. considering these swedish giants can give you specs on how to build their furniture, you'd think they could build a much more user friendly website.
thats all from me now

6 weddings and 3 funerals

since i turned thirty i've noticed that more and more of my weekends are being spent at weddings and funerals. although the weddings are happy days for the happy couples and their families, they're starting to become somewhat of a bore to yours truly. ive been to six already this year and i still have two more to go. its like im on a circuit now and im starting to meet the same people... my wedding buddies!!
on the flipside, ive definitely been to too many funerals this year! on the one hand while they can be great craic and you get to see people you haven't seen in a while, they are truly sad occasions and i hope there's no more anytime soon.
i think i need to start going to christenings more, they're just great craic! i'll be waiting a while before i have any of my own though.... sorry susie!!

year 2

here i am back again!!
back on the blog for another year. the joys eh? back in c.i.t. , the place is a small bit disorganised so far ,but i guess I'm not one to talk. haven't even paid my fees or registered yet, but it probably wouldn't matter as the admissions people seem to be a small bit behind or whatever it is they do.
but having said all that, its nice to be back seeing all the heads in the class again. been pushed out to the prefabs though, could be cold in there come winter. at least there's only 13 weeks to go to the end of semester, and then back in the real world earning some money at last!!
til next week

exams exshams

the exams are a comin!! its gettin busy , i feel like a real student!
got lots and lots of things to be doin right now , assignments comin out my eyeballs.
but its all gettin very interesting. the subjects are all quite different save architecture and
operating systems which are quite alike, but i think i'm getting on top of it.
i think the key is to stay on your assignments, get them done, pick up the handy marks and then
there will be less pressure on you come examtime.
thats my theory and i'm stickin to it!
til next time...

boo humbug!

what is it with the xmas decorations already? went in to work yesterday( an unnamed public house in douglas) to find the place decked out in xmas trees and tinsel etc. ALREADY!!
its the 14th of november only, theres more than six weeks to go. i know november is traditionally a quiet month for the trade, but to try an increase business in a quiet month by pretending its something else is crass and greedy. what happened to the twelve days of xmas?
its gonna be twelve weeks soon...
yours scroogedly.

footblog

sir alex ferguson is now 21 years in charge of manchester united. you'd think by now old big nose himself might have a thicker skin than he's been displaying of late. what is with the whining and complaining that he's come out with this week that he was abused at the emirates stadium last sat. surely, a manager that long in the tooth gets abused at every visiting ground he goes to.
and why bring it up now after what was possibly the match of the season so far and played in the right spirit? what a whiner. would he be whining like this were roy keane the main man at old trafford? methinks not. perhaps sir alex is just stoking the fire ahead of the rematch at old trafford later in the season. that's more his style. well sir alex, take it from me, arsenal wont be crying to the press when they dont get a prawn sandwich reception...
as mr t would say " quit your jibberjabberin fool and get some nuts!"

whatever happened to students being laid back, accepting and liberal?
it seems that todays lot are racist and bigoted. whatever happened to toilet humour??
the lack of this, the highest form of wit has been forgotten about.
so poo to you, you rascshits,
i fart in your general direction.

first week back in college

ah yes,
back among the land of the studes. cans o dutch gold, sausage beans and chips and tappin the arse of someones fag when you're stuck. i missed those halycon days when i was out in the big bad real world. Now that i'm back here among the generation of the future, i'm not leaving. Its great craic!
Today in college we played a teamwork game in our creative lab. the object of the game was to construct the highest tower using only A4 paper and paperclips! Unfortunately while all was looking great, we couldn't get our spire ( which was gonna bring home the fabulous top prize of blank cd's and pens!!) to stay on top of our building.
But we worked together as a team, and despite some cheating from the other teams, we managed a creditable second place and we recycled all the used paper like the conscientious fine young men that we are. As soon as they start handing out degrees for that i'll be Prof. Dermot Motherway....
til next time,
adios.
